autumn...
Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it,
and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

Trees….
So the tree rustles in the evening, when we stand uneasy before our own childish thoughts:
Trees have long thoughts, long-breathing and restful, just as they have longer lives than ours.
They are wiser than we are, as long as we do not listen to them.
But when we have learned how to listen to trees, then the brevity and the quickness and the childlike hastiness
of our thoughts achieve an incomparable joy.
Whoever has learned how to listen to trees no longer wants to be a tree.
He wants to be nothing except what he is. That is home. That is happiness.

Once...
Once, Picasso was asked what his paintings meant.
He said, “Do you ever know what the birds are singing? You don’t. But you listen to them anyway.”
So, sometimes with art, it is important just to look.

longing for impossible things...
The feelings that hurt most, the emotions that sting most, are those that are absurd -
The longing for impossible things, precisely because they are impossible; nostalgia for what never was;
the desire for what could have been; regret over not being someone else; dissatisfaction with the world’s existence.
All these half-tones of the soul’s consciousness create in us a painful landscape, an eternal sunset of what we are.

happiness...
That's the best revenge of all is happiness.
Nothing drives people crazier than seeing someone have a good fucking life.

evil is like a shadow...
Evil is like a shadow. It has no real substance of its own, it is simply a lack of light.
You cannot cause a shadow to disappear by trying to fight it, stamp on it, by railing against it…
You must shine light on it.

grace...
I don’t usually think of the word grace as it pertains to the physical… grace is a very private and personal thing.
It’s a shared gift; a gift of and for the spirit.

three things...
In the end, only three things
matter: how much you loved,
how gently you lived, and
how gracefully you let go of
things not meant for you.

Is it?
Before you speak, ask yourself: Is it kind, is it true, is it necessary, does it improve upon the silence?

fall...
Remember that all through history, there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they seem invincible.
But in the end, they always fall. Always.”

you do not have.

finishing chapters...
It's always important to know when something has reached its end.
Closing circles, shutting doors, finishing chapters, it doesn’t matter what we call it;
what matters is to leave in the past those moments in life that are over.”
